The Services dedicated to maintaining the relationship between parents and non-cohabiting children respond to the aim of supporting and taking care of the continuity of the relationship between the former and the latter, following conflictual separation/divorce, foster care (broadly and generically understood), community placement or other situations for which such support is considered important. Child Contact Centers (CCC) organization is heterogeneous, both at a national and regional level, and due to this peculiarity, it is complex to present a single and transversal internal organization that can be representative of these realities. In reference to these Services in the Lombardy Region, in fact, there are only guidelines, regulations and Service charters built to orient and organize them within specific Territorial Areas which, in turn, differ in specific contexts. This differentiation conditions and orients the organization, functioning and forms of management of the multiple contexts. The heterogeneity of individual territories, the fragmented indications that attempt to define CCC and, together, the planning of meetings within them, amplify the complexity of producing empirical knowledge. The research is configured as a quantitative study that intends to pursue a dual purpose: on the one hand, to detect the number and geographical location of the Services for Maintaining the Relationship between parents and non-cohabiting children in the Lombardy Region, on the other to explore their organization and internal functioning. To pursue the objectives described above, two questionnaires were constructed and administered: the first addressed to the Lombardy Planning Offices with the aim of detecting the number, the geographical location and to explore the form of management and the possible presence of a coordination figure of the Lombardy Relationship Maintenance Services and, subsequently, a second aimed at the coordination figures of these entities with the aim of exploring their organization and functioning. Through the investigation, it was possible to quantify and locate Services in the regional territory and, moreover, to collect important cognitive elements relating to the composition of the work teams, as well as the organization of the physical and internal spaces. The research also made possible to collect innovative data regarding the maintenance of "long-distance" relationships between parents and their non-cohabitant children. The results considered most significant revolve around the participation of families in the construction of paths aimed at maintaining and nurturing bonds, together with the reflections carried out starting from the multiple definitions of these realities.
