Luoghi di culto in Transpadana centrale tra II sec. a.C. ed età flavia tra falsi miti e realtà archeologiche

This paper wishes to present the state of the knowledge on places of worship in central Transpadana, a geographically and culturally diverse territory characterized by a small number of Roman colonies living alongside indigenous populations with a varying degree of Romanization Monumental evidences from this period are few but significant, showing a progressive adhesion to central-Italic architectural models; decontextualized elements, such as epigraphs and architectural elements, are instead more numerous. A few, sparse citations in the ancient literary sources complete the picture. In the Alpine valleys, various archaeological contexts show a strong persistence of traditional cults in ahn interesting continuity from proto-history to Roman times
