MARCO RAININI, The Desire for God in the Exegesis of Certain Passages of Scripture (12th cent.) The contribution investigates the problem of the "desire for God" by considering the exegesis of two passages of the Song of Songs (3:1-3; 5:6-8) between the end of the 11th and the whole of the 12th century. The different commentaries highlight significant innovations, such as the interpretation that sees the beloved of the Canticle as the Mother of God herself. While the commentaries of the Black Benedictines and the city schools and the canons assume the traditional theme whereby the two lovers are Christ and the Church, Cistercian exegesis prefers to focus on the interpretation that sees in it God and the soul, with an emphasis on the moral sense and thus on individuality, which leads in the direction of the spirituality of the following centuries. In this regard, a privileged channel for the transmission of this Cistercian culture is identified in the preaching of the Friars Minor, as in particular the significant testimony of a recently found manuscript seems to indicate.

Abstract
In this regard, a privileged channel for the transmission of this Cistercian culture is identified in the preaching of the Friars Minor, as in particular the significant testimony of a recently found manuscript seems to indicate.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
