The essay is the main critical text in the big volume dedicated to the works of Piero Dorazio painted between 1963, when he left his former season of "textures" and starts a new way of creating forms with colours and stripes intertwined. This moment is very prcious for his position in the art world, concerning also the moment of great success and interest in the United States, wher the Italian artist teaches at the Penn State Unviersity in Philadelphia. In the essay his painting is confronted with the themes and the situations of an international horizon, concerning also his theoretical reading of a turning point in the Second World War art.
