The essay examines the relationship between playwriting and memory in the plays by Laura Sicignano and Alessandra Vannucci. The space of fiction is transformed into an occasion for the search for truth and the theatrical texts are characterised by a strong rootedness in reality and history. In particular, the female characters constitute small choruses that deal with the great events of 20th century history.
