Within the framework of a study aimed at evaluating the level of integration of migrants living in Italy, this essay focuses the attention on the economic dimension of integration. The study was addressed to a sample of 12,000 migrants living in 32 Italian provinces, selected through an original methodology. Concerning the economic aspects of integration, the study permitted to confirm the importance of some major variables: the educational level, the migration seniority and the law status. At the same time, it confirmed the importance of gender: if the migrant women easily enter in the Italian labour market, they result penalised when we take into consideration career’s prospects and earning levels.
