The specific features of French specialized communication are described in order to provide a frame of reference on the subject. Exemplary historical cases illustrate the role of French in the transmission of science and technology: the methodological choices as well as the theoretical approaches and applications adopted have made it possible to tackle the communicative problems typical of the world of science, technology and the professions in contemporary French. The role of terminology is explored as a key reference for this type of communication.
