Moda Afro-Italiana. Una prospettiva sociologica

The book sets out to analyse the positioning of Afro-Italian fashion within an imaginary made up of practices, meanings, images, and knowledge in a peculiar moment, characterised by high visibility and marked by important changes. It situates itself firmly in the domain of the study of material culture, but at the same time explores the role played by the personal ties set up by the actors involved and the networks thereby created. Afro-descendant creatives can thus be promoters of a new model of Italian-ness and contribute to the creation of a new Made in Italy; at the same time, they are important social and economic actors within and outside the African diaspora on the national territory. Proximity and transnational ties emerge precisely as two fundamental keys to understanding the complexity of the social phenomenon that transcends the material object under investigation.
