The mother–father relationship represents the fundamental context for a child’s development. The children’s psychosocial well-being is influenced not only by the quality of their own relationship with mother and father, but also by the quality of the relationship between parents. This relational context is complex, specific for each child, and changes throughout the lifecycle. Both parents are expected to actively contribute in their child’s development, building a solid alliance and sharing parental responsibility.
