The text accompanies the main works of the Italian sculptor, selected for the exhibiton in Palazzo Reale. Looking at the evolution of his work, it pays attention to the theme of metamorphosis in the different moments of Somaini's sculpture and to its origins from the confrontation with history of art and with nature. Some of his works, like the "Monumento ai Marinai d'Italia", are considered for their relation to classical and modern art, with attention also to the relationships with architecture.
