We are glad to propose in this volume, according to an enduring tradition, a selection of the papers presented at the XIII conference of ItAIS, the Italian Chapter of AIS (Association for Information Systems), held at University of Verona on October 7–8, 2016. The conference theme: “ICT and innovation: a step forward to a global society” suggests a composite, inclusive, and rich view over the multiple dimensions of innovation, along the technical, organizational, and social perspectives, encouraging an open dialogue within our evolving community of research and practice.
