The paper aims at describing forms and functions of Polish Yes-No interrogative sentences. two types of structures are given: the former is introduced by the interrogative marker czy which is not related to a specific pragmatic function, although it does not occur with certain kinds of request for a confirmation. the latter type of Yes-No interrogative is structurally very similar to a declarative sentence – only intonation can distinguish them. Particles can be used to express an expectation, but they can also occur in a blending of a question with other pragmatic functions such as requests or offers.
