THE LIFE CYCLE OF A BIG INDUSTRIAL COMPANY: THE “FRANCO TOSI” IN LEGNANO. The present survey highlights the factors which have favored the foundation, development of “Franco Tosi” in Legnano (Lombardy, Italy). The ime-frame taken into consideration spanning from the year of its foundation, in 1875, to nowadays.In this study we wish to underlines the topographic, productive and employment company development which has characterized the company’s first 100 years of activity. Through the ontinuous purchase of tools and machineries, and along with its workers’ constant specialization, Franco Tosi has been designing, manufacturing and putting on the Italian market as well as on the foreign ones, a wide variety of power plants models.In 1985 "Franco Tosi" went through a new phase by, as a matter of fact, being bought first by ABB and then by Ansaldo. Both these companies relocated part of the production elsewhere. In the most recent years "Franco Tosi" has been taken over first by the industrial group Casti and afterwards by Gammon India Limited. Nowadays “Franco Tosi” manufactures both steam and hydraulic turbines, guaranteeing its Customers with all the post-sales assistance they may need by employing about 550 resources.
