Afro-Latin American literature is attracting more and more critical attention. However, there is no extensive tradition of studies that allows us to approach the analysis of their texts without first asking some previous questions. Among these, for example, which is the point of enunciation used by Afro-Latin American authors and with what the techniques and forms they use are related. This monograph aims to address this issue through the analysis of the poetry of the Afro-Costa Rican Shirley Campbell Barr and the Puerto Rican Mayra Santos Febres. In the first part, the study reflects on the recent analytical category of 'literature of Afro-descendants' and takes note of some of the most important theories and conceptualizations that emerge from the Afro-descendant cultural and literary field throughout the twentieth century. This first analysis allows us to consider the elements by which the poetry of Campbell Barr and Santos Febres can be included in the recent analytical category of 'literature of Afro-descendants' and opens to the second part of the study, more focused on literary analysis, in which the thematic and poetic patterns that define Afro-Latin American poetry are considered and the poetry of the poets under investigation is carefully studied both from the thematic and rhetorical point of view. The results of the study allow us to highlight the points of contact between the production of Campbell Barr and Santos Febres and, at the same time, provide an opportunity to delineate the links that their production establishes with that which comes from the broader Afro-Latin-Caribbean poetic space.

Abstract
The results of the study allow us to highlight the points of contact between the production of Campbell Barr and Santos Febres and, at the same time, provide an opportunity to delineate the links that their production establishes with that which comes from the broader Afro-Latin-Caribbean poetic space.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
