The Acts collect eight contributions from the Conference "Centro and Periferie. Andare a teatro a Roma nel I sec. a.C.", 7-8 November 2019 and an article on a distich in memory of Gneus Lucceius, author of Atellanae comedies, not presented in the conference. The framework of Roman theatre in Rome has been reconstructed referring to the previous and following centuries and using an interdisciplinary method. The contributions deal with the reconstruction of Latin dramatic genres (old and new), the personalities of poets and their texts of which there is only indirect and fragmentary evidence, the architectural structures of theaters, the significant role of some actors and the audience involvement. History of theatre, philology, political history, archaeology, performing arts are involved together to present an original picture of the fragmentary evidences and let to recognize fundamental relationships between "centre" and "peripheries" of the nascent Roman empire.
La raccolta raccoglie otto contributi delle giornate di Studio Centro e Periferie. Andare a teatro a Roma nel I sec. a.C. del 7-8 novembre 2019. Ad essi si aggiunge uno studio su un distico in memoria di Gneo Lucceio, autore di commedie Atellane, non presentato nel convegno. Il quadro è stato ricostruito con riferimenti anche al secolo precedente e successivo e con metodo interdisciplinare.Gli articoli del volume, che rielaborano i contributi presentati al convegno, affrontano le criticità di ricostruzione dei generi drammatici (vecchi e nuovi), delle personalità dei poeti e dei loro testi di cui si hanno solo testimonianze indirette e frammentarie, delle strutture architettoniche dei teatri, il significativo ruolo di alcuni attori e il coinvolgimento del pubblico. Il quadro che ne esce è originale e permette di riconoscere la fondamentale relazione tra centro e periferie del nascente impero romano.
