The essay dwells on complex elements from the point of view of translation practice, starting from the historical substance of the seventeenth-century language, which presents very peculiar characteristics in syntax and in the use of punctuation, for example. Added to this are references to the current affairs of the time, intertextuality, and the author's typical wit and irony, which constitute constant challenges for the translator, who is constantly invited by the author to play with language.

Il saggio si sofferma su elementi complessi dal punto di vista della pratica traduttiva a partire dalla sostanza storica del linguaggio seicentesco che presenta caratteristiche molto peculiari nella sintassi e nell’uso della punteggiatura, ad esempio. A questo si aggiungono i riferimenti all’attualità dell’epoca, l’intertestualità, l’arguzia e l’ironia tipiche dell’autore che costituiscono sfide costanti per il traduttore, che viene costantemente invitato dall’autore a giocare col linguaggio.
