La Magia Naturalis di Giovan Battista Della Porta. Lingua, cultura e scienza in Europa all’inizio dell’età moderna

This work on G.B. Della Porta's "Magia naturalis" (1558) and on the sectorial languages that characterize it makes accessible a text that has played a role of considerable importance in the history of European culture and science. Original and innovative both in the method of exegetical procedures and in the general structure, the study proposes a new model of analysis in which different disciplines integrate each other approaching and enhancing all the elements of the text, that is considered as a crossroads of functions and meanings. From the analysis of the Latin, German and Italian versions, the scientific world, social demands and cultural needs of the time emerge. After having dismembered and X-rayed the text, the author reconstructs a complete world of science and culture through the language and the languages that compose it.

Questo lavoro sulla "Magia naturalis" (1558) di G.B. Della Porta e sui linguaggi settoriali che la caratterizzano rende accessibile un testo che ha svolto un ruolo di notevole rilevanza nella storia della cultura e della scienza europee. Originale e innovativo sia nel metodo delle procedure esegetiche, sia nell'impianto generale, lo studio propone un nuovo modello di analisi in cui gli approcci di diverse discipline si integrano a vicenda valorizzando tutti gli elementi del testo, inteso come crocevia di funzioni e significati. Dall'analisi delle versioni latina, tedesca e italiana emergono il mondo scientifico, le istanze sociali e le necessità culturali del tempo, intessuti nel corpus dei testi. Dopo aver smembrato e radiografato il testo, l'autrice ricostruisce un mondo completo di scienza e cultura attraverso la lingua e i linguaggi che lo compongono.
