The monography Filosofia e teologia in Tomás de Jesús is divided into two parts. The first one is devoted to the philosophical and theological thought of Tomás de Jesús, as illustrated by his works De contemplatione acquisita and De Contemplatione divina, where we see the itinerary that the human being has to follow from the first levels to the peak of the contemplative path, which is the union with God. The second part considers his Censura to the Theologia Deutsch and allows for a better knowledge of the diffusion of the Protestant Reform into the Spanish Netherlands during the second half of the sixteenth century, where the Carmelite was sent by the Pope in an attempt to bring back the heretics to faith. Tomás de Jesús understood the anthropological and theological relevance of the Theologia Deutsch and he realized how the concept of deification of the human being which is found within that text opens to a new anthropology and a new religion, which replaces the cult of God with the cult of man.
