Abstract
After a tyrant’s death, it is possible to begin to live again. The language of panegyric develops the theme of rebirth: a new golden age is coming with a new ruler. But sometimes it is not easy to contrast the new and the old emperor, as in the case of Velleius Paterculus. A complex example of this topic could be found in the Eclogues of Calpurnius Siculus (especially ecl. 1), where Virgil’s works are used in an innovative way in order to celebrate Nero.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
