Enjoy Literature! offers a new approach to teaching language by exposing students in Scuola Secondaria di primo grado to authentic literature. Through a careful choice of poems of different types - from ballads to haikus - students are encouraged to engage in the language of the poems, learning them off by heart and reciting them, as well as writing their own. Similarly, different types of prose - autobiography and detective stories - from well-known authors such as Roald Dahl and Sherlock Holmes are presented in a way that integrates working with multimedia (e.g projects on the web) with exercises which encourage the students to write their own stories. The two accompanying CDs offer music as well as readings of all the texts in the book by mother tongue speakers from various English language backgrounds.
