The aim of this paper is to identify, with the help of a parallel Russian-Italian corpus, the strategies used in Italian to render the Russian imperfective general-factual, that is, those cases in which the imperfective is said to compete with the perfective. After outlining the semantic features of the imperfective general-factual, as opposed to the perfective, and describing its different types, we will show how some of its main semantic traits can be rendered in Italian with a specific strategy.
