Many stakeholders partake in the complex processes involved in delivering health care services. This case study looks at the introduction of a regional health care information system in Italy — the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) — and analyses and discusses the coordination practices supporting its creation. The EPR is a longitudinal electronic record of a patient’s health care history accessible to health care service providers and patients.
