Migration, local labour market and vocational training, and the Senegalese diaspora in Italy are the main focuses of a 3-year trans-local research, which is going to be carried out by CIRMIB in 2019/21 in two Senegalese regions (Kaolack and Tambacounda). By considering the existing structure of job opportunity in the country of origin supported by the international community investments, the human capital of potential migrants, the diaspora investments in the country of origin and in the education of its offspring, the research aims at providing insights for decision-makers in Senegal. The chapter is a sort of preview of the study itself based on two preliminary in-field observations (May 2019 and February 2020). It shows the research design and includes the research conceptual framework, a brief description of the Senegalese contexts, the research key questions, hypothesis, and tools for each phase of the field research. A transnational approach is assumed in relation to diaspora investments, a research component allowing to consider flows between borders. The chapter concludes with the intercultural approach assumed by the research team in order to overcome bias underlying the different personal perspectives, knowledge, and scientific backgrounds and to lighten prejudices from the colonial past and still existing power relationships which may affect the communication between interviewer and interviewed and the way the research is conceived.

Abstract
The chapter concludes with the intercultural approach assumed by the research team in order to overcome bias underlying the different personal perspectives, knowledge, and scientific backgrounds and to lighten prejudices from the colonial past and still existing power relationships which may affect the communication between interviewer and interviewed and the way the research is conceived.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
