The transformation of the urban horizon is focused through an empirical study of 10 suburban areas in the most important cities in Italy. The research shows the spatial and social heterotopical fragmentation connected to globalisation. Some parts of the city are showing new combinations of functions and populations. While some places/populations are losing functions and suffering social and economic changes, new relational poverties are emerging. In this horizon of desertification of human bonds the idea of community is becoming stronger and stronger.

Abstract
The transformation of the urban horizon is focused through an empirical study of 10 suburban areas in the most important cities in Italy. The research shows the spatial and social heterotopical fragmentation connected to globalisation. Some parts of the city are showing new combinations of functions and populations. While some places/populations are losing functions and suffering social and economic changes, new relational poverties are emerging. In this horizon of desertification of human bonds the idea of community is becoming stronger and stronger.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
