We deal with the verbal expression of point of view in argumentation, as it is expressed in seven discourses about censorship, held by Robespierre during French Revolution. In the context of the debate concerning human rights, Robespierre strongly supports the freedom of the press as one of the most important conquests of Revolution. In a short time, however, complete freedom shows to be a dangerous weapon in the hands of enemies: Robespierre, in the name of the same disinterested ethos which inspired him before, argues for death penalty for those who write against him and his party. Innovative methodology is applied as we combine discourse analysis and emotive lexicon analysis.
