Abstract
The shape of the modern world has been modelled over the century improving the initial sketch represented by the flowering civilization arisen on the edges of the Mediterranean Sea and on the European continent. Starting from the legacies gathered from the pre-existing traditions, it has achieved discoveries and innovations that have enhanced an increasingly powerful and attractive development, that could establish difficult relationships with other cultures over the world. The final outcome completely diverge from original premises. The cultural code, composed by the system of thought, the body of rules and values that organize the society as a whole, has been deeply changed. But at the same time, it was also preserved the link that keep us related with the main core, on which the Western world has shaped its own material progress and the creation of an identity open to interrelations between multiple actors of global history.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
