Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus is one of the best-known examples of vir Romanus of the early Roman Republic, called to take on the dictatorship to save the fate of Rome while he is personally plowing his small field. This book reconstructs the possible historical aspects of his story and the historiographical and ideological processes through which Roman culture transformed it into a paradigmatic character in the history of Rome. The overall study of the gens to which Cincinnato belongs, the gens Quinctia, is also part of this reconstruction, whose historical events have partly contributed to the formation of some of the paradigmatic aspects of the character.

Abstract
Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus is one of the best-known examples of vir Romanus of the early Roman Republic, called to take on the dictatorship to save the fate of Rome while he is personally plowing his small field. This book reconstructs the possible historical aspects of his story and the historiographical and ideological processes through which Roman culture transformed it into a paradigmatic character in the history of Rome. The overall study of the gens to which Cincinnato belongs, the gens Quinctia, is also part of this reconstruction, whose historical events have partly contributed to the formation of some of the paradigmatic aspects of the character.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
