The first Italian chairs of Pädagogik (originally named Erziehungskunde, Pedagogia in Italian) were set up in 1817 in Pavia and Padua in the Habsburg-ruled Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia. The aim of this chapter is to reconstruct and present the evolution of this discipline in the Italian universities in the last two hundred years.

Abstract
