The most important stories of Europe are born in the heart of the nineteenth century, within a chronological period between the two world wars and dominated by totalitarian regimes, with marked traits of inhumanity. They represent not only the fruit of the scholarly research of historians and intellectuals, but also the search for the deeper roots and reason for a rebirth of the continent, in the development and peace of peoples. All this still constitutes a challenge today, faced with the threats that peace and justice between peoples suffer.
