This chapter examines the story of the Origeniana, the introductory essay on Origenis in Sacras Scripturas Commentaria, published in 1668 by Pierre-Daniel Huet. Within Huet’s quest to get the first edition of the complete works of the Greek Origen several levels interact: the documentary research, the quest for a patronage and a typographer, the quarrell with Samuel Bochart and the Jansenist controversy. This essay reconstructs the overall view, in order to better evaluate the role played by Huet in that which has been defined as l’âge d’or de la patrologie.
