There is suffering because in the beginning it is love and culture comes from their meeting. Together they start the man to fulfillment, they guide him and help him along the road that starts from the promise of a good life, passes through the desert and arrives at the expectation full of suffering hope or implacable desperation. Man's journey between nature and culture consists of three fundamental moments of the spirit: one is never without the other, although they alternately dominate each other; they are to the human spirit as the transcendental beautiful, true, good they are to be; the former corresponds to the admiration of the poet, to the second the suffering disquietude of the investigator (philosopher or scientist), to the third the action of the ethical man and the politician; all are pervaded by fiduciality, even religious, that characterizes the human experience as such. They are therefore moments that present themselves in every hour of our existence, in different ways and degrees, as soon as we open ourselves to the real. We need to know how to capture their historical and social evolving in concrete terms.

C’è sofferenza perché in principio è l’amore e dal loro incontro nasce la cultura. Insieme avviano l’uomo al proprio compimento, lo guidano e lo aiutano lungo la strada che parte dalla promessa della vita buona, passa per il deserto e approda all’attesa colma di sofferta speranza o di implacabile disperazione. Il cammino dell’uomo tra natura e cultura è costituito da tre fondamentali momenti dello spirito: l’uno non è mai senza l’altro, benché alternativamente si dominino a vicenda; stanno allo spirito umano come i trascendentali bello, vero, bene stanno all’essere; al primo corrisponde l’ammirazione del poeta, al secondo l’inquietudine sofferta dell’indagatore (filosofo o scienziato), al terzo l’agire dell’uomo etico e del politico; tutti sono pervasi dalla fiducialità, anche religiosa, che caratterizza l’esperienza umana in quanto tale. Sono perciò momenti che si presentano in ogni ora dell’esistenza, in modi e gradi diversi, non appena ci apriamo al reale. Bisogna saperli cogliere nel concreto loro farsi storico e sociale.
