DALL'ORGANIZZAZIONE AL MOVIMENTO. GIOVENTU' STUDENTESCA DAL SECONDO DOPOGUERRA ALLA CRISI DEL 1965

This research analyses the history of Gioventù Studentesca (GS), a movement born in Milan in 1954 within the context of the Italian Catholic Association (AC). This movement was founded by don Luigi Giussani, assistant of the students of AC in Milan, with the aim of setting up a community presence of Christian students in the schools. The movement had a strong development under the episcopacy of Giovanni Battista Montini, then appointed Pope with the name of Paolo VI, who recognised in GS a possible answer to the secularization process gradually evolving in the Milanese area. This report focues on the evolution of don Giussani’s pedagogical thinking and educational approach. It also highlights the critical relationschip between GS and the national centre of AC from mid-Sixsties up to the definitive exit of GS from AC following the statutes of 1969.

La presente ricerca ricostruisce la storia di un movimento di ambiente dell’Azione Cattolica italiana, nato a Milano nel 1954 e chiamato Gioventù Studentesca. Il movimento prese vita da don Luigi Giussani, assistente degli studenti dell’AC milanese, con lo scopo di creare una presenza comunitaria di studenti cristiani nelle scuole. Il movimento ebbe un notevole sviluppo durante l’episcopato di Giovanni Battista Montini, futuro Paolo VI, che riconobbe in GS una possibile risposta al processo di secolarizzazione ormai evidente in terra ambrosiana. Questo lavoro ricostruisce gli sviluppi del pensiero pedagogico di don Giussani e i difficili rapporti tra Gioventù Studentesca e l’Azione Cattolica nazionale dalla metà degli anni Sessanta fino alla definitiva uscita di GS dall’AC dopo gli statuti del 1969.
