Introduction: The study wants to understand the experience of people who know Caritas Ambrosiana (CA) and have tried to ask for RDC (or REM in the pandemic). Methods: qualitative research, participatory approach. 29 semi-structured audio-recorded interviews. 2 focus groups with operators of CA. A group of 5 people collaborated in constructing the interview outline and defining focus groups. The interviews were transcribed and a content analysis was carried out. Results: Including experts by experience can be useful for the field work and advocacy role. A different image has emerged from the one of the "scrounger". Life fatigues are highlighted as stigma and structural barriers. People in poverty demonstrate skills, contrasting precariousness. Rdc, despite critical issues, helps to find dignity, with positive repercussions at family level. Rdc coverage leads to fewer requests for economic contributions and to the structuring of mutuality. Conclusions: Rdc, despite structural limitations, is useful. Bureaucratic and social barriers limit access to many entitled. Broadening inclusion criteria, cultural change in the way we look at recipients, valorisation of skills and greater participation are important. The study recognizes the work of CA operators and the need to restore a central role to the recipients, whose voice can guide policies.
Barriere burocratiche e sociali limitano l’accesso a molti.
