Research reports a relationship between impulsive behaviors and unhealthy eating behaviors. Serious games, combining educational contents with gamification, can increase engagement in therapeutic activities and behavioral training programs. In this context, we have developed a Serious Game to promote healthy eating style in children and adolescents in which impulsivity is a predominant feature, specifically individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. An initial analysis of the usability of the Serious Game was performed on a sample of 12 participants by means of quantitative and qualitative measures. Participants' feedback, which was overall positive, was helpful for defining the required improvements. Once implemented, the serious game will be then proposed to children and their families and included in home-based educational interventions.

Despite an increasing scholarly attention on innovation in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), we still know relatively little about the factors motivating and supporting innovation in such firms. This qualitative study joins this conversation by investigating the controversial role played by networks in fostering innovation in the specific context of micro-firms. Building on 32 semi-structured interviews conducted with micro-entrepreneurs and network managers, our results identify several influencing factors carrying both a positive and a negative effect on innovation and detect three main ways in which micro-entrepreneurs make sense of the network’s influence on the overall innovation process. This study offers two primary contributions. First, we shed light on the varying effects of the network’s characteristics on innovation in micro-firms. Second, we further our understanding of how micro-entrepreneurs frame the role of networks in driving innovation. Thus, we develop a framework on the joint effect of network-level characteristics and the micro-entrepreneur’s sensing of the network’s role as key drivers of the impact of networks on innovation in micro-firms.

The role of the economy in Athenian politics has been prominent since the
second half of the fifth century BC. The consideration of the political and
financial crises that affected Athens has made it possible to detect significant
changes in the management of financial resources between the fifth and
fourth centuries. We will try to demonstrate how, often, a state of emergency
has led to change, even in the long term, transforming initially extraordinary
institutions into indispensable means for maintaining the management of the
economy. The establishment of extraordinary magistracies, the specialization
of public offices, the complexity reached by the Athenian financial system are
a non-negligible index.

Learning analytics, an emerging field in educational science, leverages data-driven insights to significantly enhance the teaching and learning experience in the context of higher education. It acts as a transformative catalyst, reshaping how educators and institutions perceive and enrich students' learning journeys. By harnessing data from diverse sources, including learning management systems, student interactions, and assessments, learning analytics provides profound insights into student performance, engagement, and behavior. These, in turn, help educators make well-informed decisions to optimize teaching methods, personalize instruction, and ultimately improve overall student achievement. This pilot case study describes the deployment and impact of learning analytics tools at a higher education institution in a master's degree program primarily focused on improving teaching practices. Its purpose is to highlight the benefits and challenges for both instructors and students associated with integrating learning analytics in higher education. The key question addressed by this study is: how does learning analytics influence student success, teaching methodologies, and institutional effectiveness in higher education, and how can its implementation be fine-tuned to unlock its full potential? The assessment encompasses different aspects, including course design, student engagement levels, and instructor-student interactions, to measure the tangible effects of using learning analytics. A section of the paper will describe the technical infrastructure and processes used to create the dataset from which the metrics were extracted. The findings from this case study demonstrate the capacity of learning analytics to provide valuable insights into student performance, engagement, and learning behaviors. Professors involved in this pilot case study observed a significant improvement in their teaching practices through the early identification of low-performing or at-risk students and the subsequent timely adoption of appropriate educational measures to meet their needs. We believe that this work will help strengthen our university’s existing strategy to further promote the use of learning analytics in optimizing resource allocation, designing curricula, identifying at-risk students, improving the quality of education, and providing students with tools to enhance their educational journey and performance. The overarching goal is the establishment of a data architecture capable of generating role- and context-based dashboards for our key stakeholders, including students, faculty, and management. Our broader goal is to foster a data culture and promote data-driven decision-making within our institution.

The European hazelnut is sensitive to water stress given its low capacity of stomatal control and its shallow root system, which spreads mainly in the top 0.4-0.5 m of soil depth. Climatic summer stress is detrimental to hazelnut yield, especially in the second half of July and the first half of August, when maximum oil accumulation in the kernel occurs. In this study, grafted and own-rooted young hazelnut plants of three high-quality cultivars were cultivated in central Italy to investigate possible differences in growth and production in the first eight years after planting. The grafting of C. avellana on C. colurna rootstock affects both vegetative development and nut production. Grafted plants of ‘Tonda Romana’ were most productive, showing a very positive effect on yield of this cultivar. In general, the higher vegetative and productive growth of adult grafted plants in the eighth year after planting shows the close affinity between the two species. A positive influence on yield for a longer period of time is expected in grafted hazelnut plants.

Mycotoxin contamination of maize kernels by fungal pathogens like Fusarium verticillioides and Aspergillus flavus is a chronic global challenge impacting food and feed security, health, and trade. Maize lipoxygenase genes (ZmLOXs) synthetize oxylipins that play defense roles and govern host-fungal interactions. The current study investigated the involvement of ZmLOXs in maize resistance against these two fungi. A considerable intraspecific genetic and transcript variability of the ZmLOX family was highlighted by in silico analysis comparing publicly available maize pan-genomes and pan-transcriptomes, respectively. Then, phenotyping and expression analysis of ZmLOX genes along with key genes involved in oxylipin biosynthesis were carried out in a maize mutant carrying a Mu transposon insertion in the ZmLOX4 gene (named UFMulox4) together with Tzi18, Mo17, and W22 inbred lines at 3- and 7-days post-inoculation with F. verticillioides and A. flavus. Tzi18 showed the highest resistance to the pathogens coupled with the lowest mycotoxin accumulation, while UFMulox4 was highly susceptible to both pathogens with the most elevated mycotoxin content. F. verticillioides inoculation determined a stronger induction of ZmLOXs and maize allene oxide synthase genes as compared to A. flavus. Additionally, oxylipin analysis revealed prevalent linoleic (18:2) peroxidation by 9-LOXs, the accumulation of 10-oxo-11-phytoenoic acid (10-OPEA), and triglyceride peroxidation only in F. verticillioides inoculated kernels of resistant genotypes. Further studies on lox4 overexpressed mutants generated in our laboratory are already ongoing to confirm the strategic role of this gene in controlling defense responses against mycotoxigenic fungi.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the leading causes of comorbidities and death worldwide. Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) is a comprehensive intervention proven effective in improving COPD patients’ quality of life. However, its benefits often decrease with time because of low motivation, lack of direct surveillance, and low self-awareness. In this scenario, digital technologies can play a key role by allowing more engaging protocols and enabling home-based programs. The cooperation between clinical and technology experts is crucial to develop protocols that are effective and well-accepted by patients. This work aimed at developing and testing a hybrid PR program for patients with COPD based on digital applications that allow the personalization of the intervention, and support the delivery of healthcare services also in the context of continuity of care. Our protocol proved able to improve the patients’ condition, as traditional programs do, paving the way for the adoption of such technologies in the clinical practice.

The aim of this article is to analyze the role of relationships in the internationalization process of space tech startups. After reviewing the recent literature on startups and firm internationalization, we conduct an empirical analysis of Italian space tech startups. We collected 6 semi-structured interviews with startups that activated international marketing activities, and other actors involved in their internationalization process such as an incubator and the national trade agency. Preliminary findings identify the actors involved in the startups’ internationalization and the relationships activated in the process that enhance this process. We also discuss the marketing tools that emerged as key in reaching new markets and customers in the tech space industry, such as trade fairs and digital media.

In the new Millennium Italian universities have lived many changes deeply reshaping academic institutions. A relevant aspect was the more and more significant need to answer the demand of society and respond the social pressure to accountability through the transfer of knowledge, innovation and technology to economy. It led to an extension of the so-called university Fourth Mission, an instrument dedicated to create spin-offs to share scientific research results with society. The paper investigates the present reality of university spin-offs in Italy by considering their growing number also in the light of their role of an instrument for academic job substitution. In particular, a tool to respond to the current condition of young Italian academic researchers increasingly affected by job offer reduction due to budget constraints, consequent university policies and new management issues.

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often report impairments in motor learning compared to their peers with typical development (TD). The present study wants to preliminary assess the ability of virtual reality (VR) to foster motor learning in ASD. In particular, 20 children with ASD and 20 children with TD performed two VR-based serious games that required them to perform motor actions with the upper limbs with varying degrees of freedom in the movement. The two serious games were performed twice in a counterbalanced order, and execution time and accuracy were measured. Findings showed that children with ASD were less accurate and took longer to perform the two serious games than their peers with TD. Moreover, no motor learning effect was reported in the serious game that required movements with high-level degrees of freedom, while a motor learning effect was revealed in the game requiring precise goal-directed actions. The children with ASD improved their performance by reducing their execution time across game repetitions. The improvement in time performance did not affect accuracy, which remained stable across repetitions. These findings support the development and implementation of VR-based serious games in ASD intervention, as they could foster motor learning and improve motor skills in this population.

of gender-(un)fair texts and their application to a corpus of 1,024 portions of university administrative documents in
Italian. Overall, the guidelines presented in this study prove to be valuable both practically and theoretically. They help
identify and address non-inclusive expressions while highlighting the complexities of obscuration and visibility in gender-fair
language reformulation. In addition, the statistical analysis of the created corpus shows how administrative texts tend to
contain gender-unfair language, especially the masculine overextended expressions, showing the need to adopt specific and
complete guidelines that lead (and support the staff training) to the use of a more gender-fair language.

A significant philosophical justification for the development
of paraconsistent logics is the observation that there are theories (and,
more generally, datasets) which are informative in their respective domains
and yet allow for the derivation of contradictions, either on their
own or when combined with other theories. A system of logic can represent deductive
reasoning within such theories while avoiding triviality, i.e. it can be
designed in such a way that the presence of a contradiction is not sufficient
for deriving everything whatsoever. The underlying idea is that
inconsistent theories typically contain consistent sub-theories which are
legitimate for studying their own domains and should not be affected by
contradictions involving propositions that are out of their scope. The
framework employed here is a proposal to formally capture this intuition
in a precise way, thanks to the possibility of comparing the scope
of theories both in the syntax and in the semantics.

Telefono Amico Italia (TAI) is a voluntary organization that provides a telephone help service for people in emotional distress. The telephone operators summarize in short reports the contents of calls and a group of experts classifies them into categories. The present contribution moves from the analysis of the contents of the reports (203.316 in 2016-2020) with a twofold aim of detailing the categories adopted by TAI and proposing an update. Two different automatic classification perspectives have been exploited: a top-down one which aims to assess the consistency of the contents of the phone calls with the categories adopted by TAI's experts, and a bottom-up one which seeks to obtain a classification of the texts by topic (topic extraction). By means of statistical analysessuni and multivariate analyses, the categories that emerged from the classifications were observed in relation to the characteristics of the appellants. The top-down approach, showed the goodness of the categories adopted by the experts, but also the need for a redefinition of some categories that showed large areas of semantic overlap. The bottom-up analysis, has both confirmed the presence of categories already adopted and allowed to recognize the existence of new emerging categories. The multivariate analysis of these new categories revealed a decisive role of the category mental health in monitoring suicide.

Research on women entrepreneurship in sub-Saharan Africa has documented governmental and non-governmental initiatives to tackle women-related issues raised from informal institutional voids. However, despite the overall improvement of the social status of women in societies, yet this approach takes for granted that women are unable to achieve entrepreneurial opportunities without external assistance. Building on a bottom-up approach, our study addresses this limitation by investigating how and through which mechanisms women in sub-Saharan Africa build an inclusive society through entrepreneurship. Following an inductive multiple case study methodology, we propose a grounded process model which describes mechanisms pursued by women entrepreneurs to overcome women-based constrains while creating an inclusive societal change in local communities. Our study provides fine-grained evidence of institutional working practices to fill women-based informal institutional voids. Moreover, it unveils actions through which women entrepreneurs integrate community-based entrepreneurial initiatives to promote inclusive societies in sub-Saharan Africa.

How are brands navigating the tension between being a cultural and a market player in woke times? Brand activism resonates of the struggle that brands undertake to be perceived by consumers as committed cultural authority. This led several brands to fall into woke washing allegations and contestations in social media. Our study dives deep into a successful but highly contested Italian media brand – Freeda Media – that was launched as a cultural resource for the feminist cause but suffered from strong consumers’ critique. Findings reveal how emerging contestation and polarization generated by brand activism in social media are the result of the unresolved tension of the brand between being a cultural and a market player. This tension produces a spiral of mismatches between brand conduct and consumer perceptions when the commercial goals of the brand as a market player prevail over the cultural value of material and immaterial resources provided by the brand as a cultural player. Our study discusses how brands can navigate this tension and leverage on social media to realize hopefully wiser digital techno-futures.

We study the following problem of sequential analysis: we observe a Brownian motion which has a zero drift initially; at a an unknown and random time θ, known as change-point, the Brownian motion takes a non-zero drift. Since the Brownian motion is observed in real time, we want to estimate θ optimally by means of a stopping time which minimizes a total miss criterion, namely the linear combination between the expected advance in detecting θ wrongly and expected delay of a late detection. This problem is solved in the Bayesian formulation, where θ is assumed to follow an exponential prior distribution.

Trust plays a pivotal role in the acceptance of AI (Artificial Intelligence), particularly when it involves people’s health and safety. AI systems have proven to hold great potential when applied to the medical field. However, users still find it challenging to trust AI over a human doctor for decisions regarding their health. This paper establishes a new theoretical framework, drawing upon the integration of the Uncertainty Reduction Theory (URT) and the theorization on agency locus. This framework aims to examine the influence of transparency, agency locus, and human oversight, mediated by uncertainty reduction, on trust development. Transparency has already been revealed as a key element in fostering trust, as AI systems showing some kind of transparency, providing insights into their inner workings, are generally perceived as more trustworthy. One explanation for this can pertain to the system becoming more understandable and predictable to the user, which reduces the uncertainty of the interaction. The framework also focuses on the differences entailed by the application in different fields, namely healthcare and first response intervention. Moreover, the paper foresees multiple experiments that will validate this model, shedding light on the complex dynamics of trust in AI.

Automatic assessment of the proficiency levels of the learner is a critical part of Intelligent Tutoring Systems. We present methods for assessment in the context of language learning. We use a specialized Elo formula used in conjunction with educational data mining. We simultaneously obtain ratings for the proficiency of the learners and for the difficulty of the linguistic concepts that the learners are trying to master. From the same data we also learn a graph structure representing a domain model capturing the relations among the concepts. This application of Elo provides ratings for learners and concepts which correlate well with subjective proficiency levels of the learners and difficulty levels of the concepts.

The Covid-19 restrictions compelled tourism suppliers to reconfigure their offer in fully digital formats, especially through the use of video-conferencing platforms, such as Zoom. That has brought about the outburst of a new trend in tourism photography: the ‘Zoom photo taking’, which is a capture of the Zoom screen, then posted in social media to share the memorable moments of the smart tourism experience. This study, conducted in the gastronomy tourism sector, explores this new trend to understand how video-conferencing platforms are reshaping the consumption of smart tourism experiences, giving rise to new self-presentation and social practices. We conducted a netnographic research, which revealed the emergence of three Zoom tourism consumption experiences. Our findings contribute to the smart tourism literature by illustrating how Zoom is being shaped as a new tourism destination for smart tourists. Our study also advances the consumer culture domain by highlighting how the Zoom platform has become the locus where acculturation, socialization and performativity practices are constructed and consumed.

Research in the fields of the Smart Home and Ambient Assisted Living has increased in the last decade. While some solutions are available to general public, there are still some concerns related to the design of smart solutions and their acceptance, especially when it comes to residents' monitoring and privacy. In this context, this paper introduces an ontology-based smart home framework, LIDoMS, aimed at focusing on inhabitants needs by providing a representation of their health conditions, while offering them customized services. End-users can interact with the system thanks to an adaptive and ubiquitous graphical interface. In this work, the ontological framework underlying LIDoMS is described; the system exploits the knowledge regarding the status of appliances and residents' location within the smart home to infer the activity they are involved in, and to provide customized adaptation of indoor comfort metrics, thus enabling a less invasive monitoring of the inhabitants. Two scenarios describe how different residents can interact with LIDoMS to personalize comfort metrics - pivotal for their health condition. Finally, a framework for the validation of LIDoMS is presented.

Virtual Reality (VR) has proven effective in improving rehabilitation by providing engaging and customized inter-ventions. The application of VR in pulmonary rehabilitation is still limited, although it may increase patients' exercise tolerance. Studies on other target groups prove that VR can modify exercise performance and reduce perceived effort. Despite encouraging, the methodological differences among studies prevent reaching definitive conclusions on whether VR can influence exercise tolerance and which factors are more impactful. Our work aims to define and validate an experimental protocol for quantitative evaluation of the effects of VR on perceived effort. Secondary goals are to investigate whether a higher degree of immersion or interaction induces a lower perceived exertion. The experimental protocol consists of cycling at light/moderate intensity under four conditions: no VR, non-immersive VR, immersive VR with and without a dual-task. Heart rate, breathing response (breathing rate, tidal volume, and minute ventilation), cycling cadence, and rate of perceived exertion (RPE) are measured. Thirteen healthy adults (25.08pm 5.50 years) participated in the study. Results show that the protocol is sustainable and suitable for the aims set. All participants maintained the predefined exercise intensity and the desired cadence. RPE was not influenced by any VR factor (p = 0.224), although showing a tendency to decrease in the case of immersive VR (RPE = 11). In the future, a broader sample will allow drawing more definitive results. Further investigations include more factors in the analysis and replicate the study to healthy elderly and respiratory patients.

The pandemic context has brought out a new global consensus sustaining even more than before the strong alignment between business goals and sustainable practices.
Although found in any industry and for any type of company, during the last years this consideration seems to have yielded the most interesting results in the financial context. Here the growing attention to this alignment seems to emerge thanks to the relationship between ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and financial results. This alignment is strictly related to a Humanistic Management approach founded on a participatory creation of contents and knowledge, and a strong and consistently enacted ethical vision.
This paper presents the results of first two rounds of Delphi research and an explanatory case study that aims to investigate the impact of Humanistic Management approach on the development of sustainable finance due to a collaborative approach.

Settore SPS/08 - SOCIOLOGIA DEI PROCESSI CULTURALI E COMUNICATIVI
In recent years, several studies have attempted to trace the evolution of the fashion system in a globalised context and pluralized societies. This paper follows in the footsteps of similar research, focusing in particular on Afro-Italian fashion, i.e. on garments created by designers of African descent who have chosen Made in Italy - its rules, structures and conventions - as a tangible and symbolic place to give form to their creativity.
Through qualitative research, the paper discusses the storytelling of Afro-Italian fashion within the Made in Italy imaginary; it focuses on communication practices put in place by the actors involved and by the networks they activate. Specific interest is dedicated to self-defining strategies in terms of values and images proposed as narratives that are both authentic and not other-directed.
In doing so, the study highlights how Afro-descendant creatives promote a new model of Italian-ness, and critically nurture a new Made in Italy by being relevant social and economic actors within and beyond the African diaspora on the national territory.

Settore AGR/11 - ENTOMOLOGIA GENERALE E APPLICATA
20 cm (Conservative Tillage - CT) e 3 vigneti con copertura vegetale naturale senza lavorazione (No Tillage -
NT).
In tale
Bacteroidetes in CT.

Aim of this paper is to take the first steps in the study of the Schrodinger problem for lattice gases (SPLG), which we formulate relying on classical results in large deviations theory. Our main contributions are a dynamical characterization of optimizers through a coupled system of PDEs and a precise study of the evolution and convexity of the quasi-potential along Schrodinger bridges. In particular, our computations show that, although SPLG does not admit a variational interpretation through Otto calculus, the fundamental geometric properties of the classical Schrodinger problem for independent particles still admit a natural generalization. These observations motivate the development of a Riemannian calculus on the space of probability measures associated with the class of geodesic distances studied in [3]. All our computations are formal, further efforts are needed to turn them into rigorous results.

Settore L-ANT/07 - ARCHEOLOGIA CLASSICA
Since 2005, a Belgian and Italian team has carried out archaeological excavations at the site of the late-antique villa in Aiano (municipality of San Gimignano, Siena, Italy). The settlement was founded between the end of the 3rd and the beginning of the 4th century AD. Between the late 4th century and the 5th century, the entire area underwent a monumental rearrangement. The building was abandoned at the end of the 5th century and, later on, some rooms were reused as productive ateliers, which dismantled and recycled the decorations of the former villa. The entire settlement was eventually abandoned during the 7th century. The presence of marble and stone decoration inside the villa was already well known before the 2015 campaign, but the archaeological excavations conducted from 2015-2021 added some new information. The aim of this paper is to show the new findings of marble and stone fragments in Aiano, which were originally part of wall and floor revetments. The focus will be on a map of the findings, the provenance of the marbles, and the traces of tool marks they show on their surfaces, thus deeping the knowledge about cutting and reuse of marble and stone inside the site of Aiano.

Yield reduction over the years is a phenomenon that affects many fruit tree species, including hazel (Corylus avellana). Studying plant architecture could provide useful information for improving crop management, such as pruning, to reduce the impact of yield reductions. This study aimed to compare the relationship between bud composition and shoot length in hazel shoots. The experiment was carried out in January 2020 and 2021 in Deruta, Perugia (Italy). In 2020, 120 1-year-old shoots of C. avellana ‘Tonda di Giffoni’ were sampled. In 2021, the same observations were performed on lateral and apical 1-year-old shoots that had burst from parental buds in spring 2020. Depending on its length, each shoot was sorted into four categories: short (Sh) when shorter than 5 cm, medium (Me) when between 5 and 20 cm, long (Lo) when between 20 and 40 cm, and very long (VLo) when longer than 40 cm. For each shoot, shoot length, axillary and apical bud fate was recorded at each node: vegetative bud, latent bud, catkin, and mixed bud (V, B, C, and M, respectively). Percentage of lateral mixed buds was higher in longer shoots than in shorter ones while that of vegetative buds remained constant whatever the length. Fruit set, computed as the ratio between the number of nuts and the number of mixed buds, was significantly higher in Lo and VLo shoots. It was observed that the length of lateral proleptic shoots, developed in 2021, was related to the length of the bearer shoot from which it was developed. Proleptic lateral Sh shoots were the most frequent among all length categories while longer proleptic shoots (Lo and VLo) were originated only from Lo and VLo shoots. Managing tree architecture, considering a good balance between long and short shoots, and mixed and vegetative buds, could help control and prevent yield decrease in hazelnut trees.

This essay critically discusses the ways in which DigComp 2.2 can be used as a theoretical framework to support media education programs in schools. Since 2006, digital competence has been one of the eight key competencies that were defined by the European Union for lifelong learning. As reported in the recommendations, these competencies are considered to be fundamental for each individual in a knowledge-based society. DigComp focuses specifically on the acquiring of knowledge, recollection, comprehension, application, evaluation, and creation, without explaining the fundamental activities of critical analysis and reflection directly and extensively. The latter two dimensions form an integral part of the fundamental objectives ofmedia education, which could enable students to make a truly conscious and responsible use of the new media. The application of the DigComp 2.2 framework for cases of media education projects has highlighted some gaps related to well-being, self-regulation, awareness, responsibiliy and critical thinking. In order to solve these gaps without abandoning the use of the Digcomp framework, it is proposed that it be integrated with the LifeComp framework.

The paper describes the design, development and preliminary evaluation of a mobile diary app for elderly with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The application, called My Daily Activity (MyDA), allows patients to follow personalized rehabilitation, based on physical training, cognitive stimulation and an educational program. MyDA is based on four different modules: configuration, exercise, assessment and education. The first version of the application has been developed for tablets based on Android OS. As a preliminary feasibility evaluation, 12 elderly with COPD have used the system at home for 3 months. Both objective and qualitative data have been analyzed. Preliminary results suggest that, despite some improvements should be applied, MyDA represents a feasible and valuable solution for motivating elderly with COPD to continue rehabilitation at home. Future works should focus on making the app more usable, more interactive and more attractive – especially for the technology rejecting users.

Investigating the broad concept of sustainability, also in light of Agenda 2030, results in a complex and multi-actor ecosystem made up of different actors, behaviors, institutions, and interactions.
Sustainability implies the interdependence of economic, social, and environmental dimensions at different levels: this interdependence requires the focus not only on firms and producers but also on the whole ecosystem to consider who are the actors, how they interact and for what purpose, and the role of policymakers.
In this context, cross-sector partnerships are key components of sustainable development involving different actors in sustainable market shaping.
Adopting a service-dominant perspective and considering all the actors as resource integrators in this study we focus attention on the role of cross-sector partnerships in the development of a sustainable service ecosystem.
The aim of the paper, that adopts a qualitative methodology, is twofold: (1) to investigate the evolution of the cross-sector partnerships in pursuing sustainable objectives and their role in the development of a sustainable service ecosystem; (2) to recognize tensions arising in the service ecosystem when actors with different worldviews and behaviors interact and to understand how actors try to solve the different tensions through institutional arrangements.

Despite Italian teachers’ strong interest in the use of games, especially the digital ones, there are several critical issues due to their lack of familiarity with games/video games thus making games’ adoption in teaching complex because teachers have only limited time to prepare and play a game-based learning game. Therefore they feel uncertain about using games in class due to their limited knowledge of digital games and find it difficult to identify appropriate assessments, they also find it difficult to integrate video games effectively and efficiently into their classroom, it is also difficult for them to choose appropriate games for teaching. Additionally the school/administration doesn’t assist their effort to support and improve their skills in game-based learning. The learning of the fundamentals of the Italian language and grammar are described and defined by the Italian Ministry of Education within the “National Indications for the ‘Italian Language’ Curriculum”. However, multiple difficulties often make it arduous to learn the basics of the Italian language. The video game “Ross and the Sgrammanebbia” - which can be translated as “Ross and the Un-grammar-Fog” - is a didactic grammar web video game that has a correspondence between the levels and the topics of the textbook as well as giving the teacher a valid help to organise a didactic path studied on the curricular skills. In order to define the useful guidelines for an effective introduction of the game in the classroom, participatory qualitative-quantitative research was prepared on the methods that a small group of teachers put in place to design the training activity with video games. The research focused on: analysis of the educational design skills for the use of games: definition of learning goals, assessment methods and identified teaching strategies; evaluation of the pedagogical activities implemented to facilitate the introduction of games in the classroom; analysis of the roles played by the teacher during all the phases of the training activity - from the design of the training activity to the introduction of the game in the classroom, to evaluation.

A number of studies demonstrated that virtualreality (VR) featuring pleasant scenarios and relaxingnarratives is effective in promoting relaxation in users, both inhealthy and pathological contexts. One important field forapplication of relaxing VR is breast cancer, because oftherapy-related distress and changes in body imagineexperienced by patients during the care process. However, comparisons between different relaxation techniques adaptedto virtual reality are rare. In the present study, the samevirtual environment has been integrated with audio narrativesdesigned according to two different relaxation techniques (respiration control and body scan). As initial exploration, 16 breast cancer patients have been exposed to the two versions ofthe virtual environment to evaluate effectiveness, pleasantness, overall satisfaction with the technique and sense of presence, aswell as the impact on the emotional dimensions of valence, arousal and control. Discussion offers recommendations for thecontent properties of VR for relaxation for breast cancer patients

Settore M-PSI/01 - PSICOLOGIA GENERALE
The post-COVID syndrome is emerging as a new chronic condition, characterized by symptoms of breathlessness, fatigue, and decline of neurocognitive functions. Rehabilitation programs that include physical training seem to be beneficial to reduce such symptoms and improve patients’ quality of life. Given this, and considering the limitations imposed by the pandemic on rehabilitation services, it emerged the need to integrate telerehabilitation programs into clinical practice. Some telerehabilitation solutions, also based on virtual reality (VR), are available in the market. Still, they mainly focus on rehabilitation of upper limbs, balance, and cognitive training, while exercises like cycling or walking are usually not considered. The presented work aims to fill this gap by integrating a VR application to provide cardio-respiratory fitness training to post-COVID patients in an existing telerehabilitation platform. The ARTEDIA application allows patients to perform a cycling exercise and a concurrent cognitive task. Patients can cycle in a virtual park while performing a “go/no-go” task by selecting only specific targets appearing along the way. The difficulty of the practice can be adjusted by the therapists, while the physiological response is continuously monitored through wearable sensors to ensure safety. The application has been integrated into the VRRS system by Khymeia. In the next months, a study to assess the feasibility of a complete telerehabilitation program based on physical and cognitive training will take place. Such a program will combine the existing VRRS exercises and the cardio-respiratory fitness exercise provided by the ARTEDIA application. Feasibility, acceptance, and usability will be assessed from both the patients’ and the therapists’ sides.

The nut set process depends on the availability of viable pollen and the amount of resources, particularly carbohydrates, available during the period of nut growth. One of the usual responses of the plant to pruning is an increase in the rate of nut set. The aim of this work was to investigate the role of shoot leaf area formed by the elongation of the vegetative part of the glomerule on the rate of nut set. Three experiments were carried out on ‘Tonda Gentile delle Langhe’ (TGL) and ‘Negret’ hazelnuts. In the first one, one out of three branches of TGL bushes was removed in addition to current pruning to test the effect of heavy pruning on fruit set. In the second experiment, single glomerules were targeted. Glomerules of different lengths and with different leaf areas were chosen. Some of them were partially defoliated removing 33% (LR33) and 66% (LR66) of the shoot leaf area. In the third experiment, the effect of shoot heading was tested by removing the top 3 nodes (trimming) and heading 2 nodes above the distal glomerule (topping). The pruning treatment resulted in a significant increase of fruit set from 0.54 nuts glomerule-1 in control plants to 1.28 in additionally pruned plants. In the second experiment, nut set rate was 0.92, 1.25 and 1.63 nuts glomerule-1 in control, LR33 and LR 66, respectively. The topping treatment increased glomerule shoot length by 47% and nut set by 78%. These data suggest that the application of horticultural techniques to force the growth of glomerule shoots could improve nut set, which can be considered one of the major barriers to achieving maximum yield potential in hazelnut.

The contribution by Paolo Magaudda, Elena Mosconi and Massimo Locatelli gives an overview of the now rich lineage of Sound Studies related to Film and Media, while highlighting three keywords that can serve as guiding notions to further expand the field of research. Magaudda considers the notion of infrastructure, which has always been relevant for sonic cultures and practices but has especially become even more so since the rise of digital media, platforms, and tools for recording and distribution. Mosconi’s keyword is voice, and while brilliantly reminding us of the traditionally vococentric – or better: logocentric – character of cinema, she invites to investigate this fascinating topic focusing on the purely acoustic, non-semantic aspects of the voice as expressive and communicative element. Locatelli completes this triadic reflection exploring “the emotional dimensions of audio-vision”, taking music as the primary vessel for emotions and moods within audiovisual structures, but expanding the discourse also to foley artists, and to the relevance of noises interacting with images in the creation of emotional responses and awareness.

Tourism is a leisure activity directed through the exercise of the gaze. The gaze
actualizes in travel photographies either in destination pictures or in travel selfies,
where the gaze is self-directed. Recently, due to the advent of Covid-19 limitations, the practice of travel selfie has expanded into new practices: tourism experiences have been converted in fully digital formats, through the adoption of video-conferencing platforms, as Zoom. Zoom tourism formats, which have been so successful to be experienced even today by smart tourists, have brought about a new modality of self-directed tourist gaze: the Zoomie. This photograph is a self-portray of a smart tourist framed in a Zoom’s canva. Similarly to the travel selfie, the Zoomie involves specific and still unexplored practices of self-presentation. Hence, this study, conducted in the cultural tourism field, reflects on how the emerging aesthetic and stylistic canons of Zoomie self-presentation are configured, compared and contrasted with those of the travel selfie. The aim of this study is to contribute to understand how the practices of self-presentation, and so of self-directed tourist gaze, are evolving in a new virtual context as Zoom.

climate change
Settore AGR/07 - GENETICA AGRARIA
Climate change poses a formidable challenge to modern agriculture, exerting notable effects on agricultural systems through global warming, altered rainfall patterns, and increased occurrence of extreme events. Maize, being a vital crop worldwide, is projected to face substantial vulnerability to climate change across Europe. Addressing this concern necessitates the development of a more resilient cropping system and the cultivation of genotypes that can withstand these challenges. However, current maize hybrids exhibit limited genetic diversity, making them inadequate for such endeavours. In contrast, maize landraces, which have adapted to various agroecological conditions, harbour valuable indigenous germplasm that holds promise for future genetic improvements.
The primary objectives of this research are twofold: to conduct a comprehensive study and genotype analysis of 28 Italian landraces and to identify genetic markers associated with environmental factors. In the spring of 2022, carefully selected landracesfrom Lombardia, Emilia Romagna, Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, Toscana, Valle d’Aosta and Friuli Venezia Giulia were cultivated at the experimental farm of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza. Phenotypic characterization followed the UPOV protocol, with the apex of the final leaf sampled from five individuals per variety. Genotyping was performed using the GBS technique, and subsequent population studies based on sequencing data unveiled 12 ancestral populations in the admixture analysis. Noteworthy populations, including Nostrano Val Tidone, Châtillon, and Entrebin, displayed distinct and well-defined genetic profiles. Conversely, there were completely admixed groups consisting of varieties from Trentino, Emilia Romagna, and Tuscany, which posed challenges in identifying a singular reference population. The high degree of genetic fragmentation was evident in the phylogenetic tree structure, which did not conform to regional patterns but effectively differentiated individual varieties. Of particular interest, the Ottofile Mantovano variety exhibited the most distinct genetic profile, aligning with its unique field phenotype. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) also revealed clear differentiation among individual populations, although specific varietal groups were not readily discernible. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis was conducted to investigate local adaptation in relation to the environment, using climatic variables spanning a 30-year period (1970-2000). Preliminary findings from this ongoing investigation identified two specific Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) strongly correlated with the environmental factor of wind, indicating promising prospects for genetic improvement. These SNPs were located on chromosome 3 and 8, respectively, within the region of protein-coding genes. While the function of the second SNP's encoded protein remains unknown, the first SNP encodes a mitochondrial carrier, thiamine diphosphate carrier 2, involved in metabolic pathways not yet fully characterized in maize.
In conclusion, the analyses consistently demonstrate significant intra-population variability in the germplasm under study. Additionally, this collection comprises unique populations derived from ancestral lineages that have not interbred with others. The presence of completely admixed materials aligns with historical cultivation practices prior to hybridization, wherein farmers cultivated diverse maize varieties without territorial continuity, facilitating easier cross-pollination between distinct materials.

Despite the historical cultivation of maize (Zea mays L.) being well documented in Valle d’Aosta,
no landrace from this mountain region was reported in the survey of maize carried out in
1949-1950. These materials are still cultivated and have high importance from a genetic and
historical point of view.
Recently, 5 landraces from Valle d’Aosta have been collected and subjected to historic,
morphologic and genetic characterization. These landraces were named after the sampling
location as it follows: Arnad, Arnad-Crest, Chatillon, Entrebin and Perloz.
This study proved landraces’ long presence on Valle d’Aosta territory through information and
photographs found in local archives. Moreover, the genetic characterization, which involved the
use of SSR markers, highlighted a significant genetic variability and differentiation among the
investigated landraces. This may be explained by the long reproductive isolation experienced
by these materials. Finally, morphological observations confirm the high diversity between
landraces revealing that they generally have flint kernels, variable colour from yellow to dark red
(Chatillon) while Perloz showed kernels with an apical beak, suggesting the belonging to the
“Rostrata” group.
The present work confirms the importance of mountain areas in conserving agrobiodiversity and
the richness of the Italian maize germplasm with materials well adapted to marginal areas. Such
rich genetic variability may be characterized searching for useful traits for a more resilient
agriculture.

Since the first COVID-19 lockdown, video
conferencing platforms like Zoom have emerged as a
fast-growing virtual context where people can have
experiences such as education, entertainment, and
tourism. Even now that restrictions have ceased, people
are still seeking virtual experiences, particularly in the
context of cultural tourism. This has brought to life a
new practice of selfie-taking: the ‘zoomie’.
In this paper, we explore the emerging aesthetic of
zoomies to understand how self- and place-presentation
practices are evolving in virtual contexts. To reach our
goal, we conducted a netnography of zoomies in the
context of cultural tourism.
Our findings depict zoomie as the repository of
three types of tourist gaze and highlight an unkempt
aesthetic and comfy culture that differentiates it from
travel selfie. We finally elaborate how netnography
helped us uncover the zoomie as a new technocultural

COVID-19 has provided an opportunity to reset and reconsider sustainability as a mean to grow and develop considering the economic, environmental, and social/cultural implications that come with that (Sharma et al., 2021). Furthermore, tourism in the context of COVID-19 reveals how the local is a locus of change (Brouder et al., 2020).
Given the dynamicity of service ecosystem it should adapt over time to changes in resource integration, shared worldviews and outcomes; but in this evolution sometimes tensions amongst the different actors (McColl-Kennedy et al., 2020; Frow et al., 2019; Banoun et al., 2016). Ecosystems have to manage tensions and possible forthcoming conflicts in particular after some shock event, as in this period COVID-19 pandemic: transformation, innovation and change could emerge from conflicting value creation strategies (Laamanen and Skalèn, 2015).
Given these premises the aim of our study is to understand how have rural tourism realities been stimulated to evolve following the pandemic?

Settore AGR/07 - GENETICA AGRARIA
Fusarium verticillioides (Fv) is a major cereal pathogen causing stalk rot and ear rot in maize, negatively affecting crop productivity and food safety. The maize WRKY transcription factors and the lipoxygenases (ZmLOXs) are well recognized as important players in plant defense against pathogens, and it is known that the host-pathogen lipid cross-talk influences the pathogenesis. In this regard, previous RNA-seq experiments reported the enhanced expression of ZmLOX genes in maize resistant genotypes and GWAS resulted in one SNP significantly associated with ZmWRKY125. The Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeat/associated Cas9 (CRISPR/Cas9) editing of ZmWRKY125 and the transgenic overexpression of ZmLOX4 genes were carried out to investigate the possible implication of these two genes in the resistance mechanisms against Fv. As regards ZmWRKY125, the CRISPR cloning was based on a double cloning using two different guides (sgRNA) for one gene target. Agrobacterium tumefaciens mediated transformation was used for introducing in Maize A188 line the construct under the maize promoter ZmpUBI in the binary vector p1609. Mutants from three different transformation events were obtained. For each event, T2 plants will be genotyped to find homozygous for the mutation that in turn will be phenotyped for Fv resistance and fumonisin content. As regards ZmLOX4, the gene was cloned under an overexpressed promoter involved in kernel development in the vector L1781, and the same transformation conditions adopted for the CRISPR/Cas9 editing of ZmWRKY125 were used. Mutants from two different transformation events were obtained. For each event, T2 plants were genotyped in order to find homozygous for the mutation. Homozygous plants will be further evaluated for Fv resistance, fumonisin accumulation, oxylipin content as well as for the expression analysis of the main genes involved in the jasmonic acid pathway.

Lithium-ion batteries are complex systems that require suitable management strategies to work properly, achieve fast charging, mitigate ageing mechanisms and guarantee safety. Among the different model-based charging strategies, the use of predictive control has shown promising results, due to its ability to deal with nonlinear systems subject to safety constraints. However, although many implementations have been proposed in the literature, little attention has been paid to their practical feasibility, which is limited by the high computational cost required online. In this paper, we exploit, for the first time in the batteries field, an approximation of predictive control obtained through the use of a deep neural network. The proposed solution is suitable for real-time battery charging, due to the fact that most of the computational burden is addressed offline. The results highlight the effectiveness of the presented methodology in approximating a standard model predictive control solution.

This paper presents a Virtual Reality (VR) exergame, Virtual Fitness Trail (VFT), designed to encourage the elderly to regularly exercise in an engaging and safe way staying at home. VFT provides a highly immersive physical activity experiences in first-person perspective and it has been developed to run on Oculus Quest head mounted display. The exergame proposes four activities involving the main muscles of the legs and arms, as well as stabilizing balance and reflexes: monkey bar, side raises, basketball shot and slalom between beams. Each activity has four difficulty level and has been designed to minimize the perception of self-motion so as to reduce the cybersickness arise. The user’s performances are saved in.json file and it can be shared, via email, with the caregiver at the end of the exergame session. The application is a prototype and needs to be tested and validated before proposing it for autonomous physical activity at home.

The first three chapters of the so-called 'Excerpts from Theodotus' make up the first of the 13 fragments that are recognizable within this opusculum by Clement of Alexandria based on the indications of the ms. Laurentianus 5.3. They are fragments taken not directly from Gnostic sources by Clement, but selected during the 3rd century by an anonymous person from other writings by Clement, probably the lost Hypotyposeis. As in the other fragments, Clement summarizes and sometimes quotes anonymous Valentinian sources. In Fragment 1, concerning the exegesis of Luke 23:46, the summary extends from Exc. 1.1 and Exc. 2.2, but it includes a brief literal quote (Exc. 1.3) of a particular Valentinian source ('Source of the We'). Only at the end does Clement illustrate his doctrine (Exc. 3,1-2). Scholars usually think that the author of the gnostic source of Exc. 1-3 and most of the Excerpta is Theodotus. In actual fact, this attribution is fairly reckless, because it is based only on the title of the collection, which is understood incorrectly, and on only five marginal citations of the name of Theodotus. In Fragment 1 the name of Theodotus is absent, but it is usually implied as the subject of an anonymous 'he says' (Exc. 1,1b), based on the comparison with Exc. 25-26 where the name of Theodotus appears. The two passages are coherent from the doctrinal point of view and most probably they are derived from the same Valentinian source, as Clement himself says (Exc. 2.1 and 25.1). But the analysis of the way in which the name of Theodotus is quoted reveals that he must be distinguished from the guiding source and that he serves only as a comparison. So, lacking other sources, the clues to say that Theodotus is a Valentinian, that he belongs to the 'Eastern school' and that the Excerpta retain many fragments taken from his writings, are very weak. Indeed, if Theodotus were not a Valentinian, there would no longer be the preclusions to verify the identification with Theodotus of Byzantium, who lived in the same period and was a supporter of the 'adoptionist' heresy.

With the advance in artificial intelligence, the use of robots during learning activities has attracted great interest. Since teachers are the most involved during the program of educational activities, is crucial to involve them during the design process of such activities involving new technologies. Our research seeks to examine the impact of incorporating ChatGPT on teachers' perception of social robotics in educational settings. The aim is to explore teachers' perspective on the use of social robots during learning activities. To achieve this, we enrolled 16 educators from Milan with over 5 years of teaching experience across three distinct school levels (4 from kindergarten, 6 from primary school, and 6 from middle school). We gathered insights from teachers of varying grade levels on the integration of social robots into their teaching practices. The study methodology involves two sessions with the teachers: the first session consists of a semi-structured interview, a demonstration of the NAO humanoid robot using the software Chroregraphe, and two role-playing activities with the robot to help teachers understand how it can be used in teaching activities; the second session includes a “635-brainwriting” activity and a focus group discussion about the use of educational robots in the classroom, with an additional focus group discussion after observing an experimenter interact with NAO using ChatGPT. The NVIVO program is used for transcription and labeling to identify units of analysis, which are be organized into macro categories. The purpose of the study is to explore the potential use of educational robots in teaching activities and to identify possible scenarios where these robots can be used to promote soft skills such as task orientation, problem solving, creativity, empathy, and conflict management. By using a combination of semi-structured interviews, role-playing activities, brainwriting, and focus group discussions, the study aims to generate rich data that can be analyzed qualitatively to provide insights into the potential use and effectiveness of educational robots in the classroom.

Intercultural differences have been identified as one of the main reasons of failure in business relationships with Chinese companies. Objective of this work-in-progress (wip) paper is to deepen the understanding of the business relationship process among Italian and Chinese companies to ultimately define the do’s and don’ts Italian companies should follow to establish long lasting relationships with Chinese ones. This understanding is related to communication, interaction and management aspects of the business relationship.
This wip paper is made of two parts, a first one related to the theoretical approach, where we explain culture, communication and negotiation. A second part is related to the empirical research.

The paper analyses the changes in SMEs’ sales organization and processes as they expand internationally
through the development of more and more intense and interdependent business relationships with
other companies. A case study of a business relationship between a small company and a large business
group in the Italian mechanical industry is described over a period of about thirty years in order to
understand main changes in the small company’ sales organization and processes as it has become
increasingly integrated with the largest business group and the main forces sub-standing the observed
dynamics. The paper thus enters into the changes within the inter-organizational processes and into the
interplay between inter and intra-organizational issues, especially in respect to specific areas such as sales
and marketing.

The aim of the study was to analyze the level of attention and content comprehension of some movies concerning educational television programmes for children.
The sample was composed by 75 children: 56 aged 5 years old (M = 4,6 years) and 19 aged 3 years old (M = 3,11 years). According to children age, the first group was shown three different movies of 60 minutes, while the second one was shown three movies of 40 minutes.
At the end of each movie, the children were interviewed on what they remembered about the characters, the situations and the environment. Furthermore, in order to check their recollection, they were asked to relate orally what they had seen. During the movie showing, children’s behaviour was observed with the support of a coding scheme, which was expressly drawn to evaluate the attention level (self-reflection, concentration and partecipation, distraction, activity and movement, adequate emotions, socialization).
Results showed that both groups had a good level of attention as well as a good comprehension. In particular, 3 years old children showed more interest and attention for the “redundant” movies, with clear and simple images and a coloured and bright context, referring to regressive-oriented contents (childish voices, relaxed and joyful atmosphere, stressed chromatisms). On the contrary, the elements, which caught more attention in children aged 5 years old, were connected to formal qualities of images and sounds and to the narrative events.

Implementation process
Settore SPS/07 - SOCIOLOGIA GENERALE
The European Social Fund (ESF) implementation process in Italy is presented and discussed using both sociological and policy analysis categories. The complexity of ESF programming is assumed as the main feature characterising its intervention in Italy as well as the plurality of actors (instituions, social parts, public and private suppliers) involved in the implementation process. The link between such complexity and ESF evaluation models and methods is also introduced and discussed.

Settore AGR/12 - PATOLOGIA VEGETALE
A study was undertaken to investigate the variability among isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. melonis with regard to their pathogenetic relationship with the host. 36 F.o.m. isolates were submitted to pathogenicity tests to determine the race to which they belonged and the disease incidence, using a set of differential genotypes and the susceptible “Supermarket”, respectively. For each isolate, a non-linear regression was estimated according to the logistic model and, afterwards, the day on which disease incidence reached 10, 50 and 90% of affected plants (D10, D50 and D90) was calculated. To obtain groups of homogeneous isolates for the development of disease incidence, a cluster analysis was performed using D10, D50 and D90 as separating variables. To find the probability that an isolate belonged to the group assigned by the cluster analysis, a discriminant analysis was performed, which, moreover, allowed us to identify the most important variables in the separation of isolates. The mean progress of disease incidence in each cluster of isolates was then calculated as a logistic regression analysis. Finally, the degree of similarity between the two clusters of F.o.m. isolates (the former based on the physiological races, the latter on the disease incidence) was evaluated with the Pearson similarity correlation coefficient. The statistical approach adopted allowed us to ascertain that significant differences exist among the F.o.m. isolates studied, as regards their rapidity in causing disease symptoms in susceptible hosts, and a significant degree of similarity does not exist between the two clusters of isolates.
