It is maintained that creativity is enhanced in dyslexic people. To test such a claim, the WCR creativity test was administered to a sample of secondary school students ranging in age from 12 to 15 years: 19 students were diagnosed with dyslexia and 33 served as controls. Dyslexic students obtained higher, but not statistically significant, overall creativity scores than controls. The former scored significantly higher than the latter only in the subtest concerning unusual combinations of ideas. Findings contribute to highlight the peculiar features of the cognitive functioning associated to learning disabilities.

Abstract
It is maintained that creativity is enhanced in dyslexic people. To test such a claim, the WCR creativity test was administered to a sample of secondary school students ranging in age from 12 to 15 years: 19 students were diagnosed with dyslexia and 33 served as controls. Dyslexic students obtained higher, but not statistically significant, overall creativity scores than controls. The former scored significantly higher than the latter only in the subtest concerning unusual combinations of ideas. Findings contribute to highlight the peculiar features of the cognitive functioning associated to learning disabilities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
