Repeated compost applications were carried out for six years on a silty-loam (at rates of 10 and 40 organic matter t/ha). The concentrations of different elements and compounds in the amended topsoil (0-40 cm) were determined every year. Compost treatments, also in comparison with manure, significantly increased organic matter and total nitrogen contents. As regarding heavy metals, no differences were detected between the treatments with compost and the non amended control, also for harmful ones (Cd, Cr and Pb).

Abstract
Repeated compost applications were carried out for six years on a silty-loam (at rates of 10 and 40 organic matter t/ha). The concentrations of different elements and compounds in the amended topsoil (0-40 cm) were determined every year. Compost treatments, also in comparison with manure, significantly increased organic matter and total nitrogen contents. As regarding heavy metals, no differences were detected between the treatments with compost and the non amended control, also for harmful ones (Cd, Cr and Pb).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
