Spunti per una rilettura del 'Testamentum' di Francesco d'Assisi

The examination of the Testamentum of Francis of Assisi allows to observe the presence of an 'unexpected' section at the beginning of the text, where Francis remembers the start of his fraternitas and received the revelation from God. The comparison with the texts of the faith declarations of the Waldensian reconciled to the Roman Church suggests that even Francis, besides the oath of loyalty to the pope - as reported in Francis' rule -, had to prove his orthodoxy on some controversial issues, such the obedience to the Church, to the priests and the veneration of the Eucharist

L’esame del Testamentum di Francesco consente di notare la presenza di una sezione ‘anomala’ all’inizio del testo, dove Francesco ricorda gli esordi della fraternitas e la rivelazione ricevuta da Dio. Il confronto con i testi delle professioni di fede richeste ai rappresentanti dei Valdesi che intendevano riconciliarsi con la Chiesa romana suggerisce l’ipotesi che anche Francesco, oltre al giuramento di fedeltà al papa – come riportato nella regola – abbia dovuto provare la sua ortodossia su alcuni punti controversi, quali il rispetto della Chiesa, dei sacerdoti e la venerazione dell’eucaristia
