As in any other social group, in sport teams members bring with themselves some needs including the need to belong and the need to be different linked to the dynamics of competitiveness and cohesion, which previous studies have shown to be related, in different ways, to the sport performance. In team sports predominates the need to belong and cohesion, in individual ones predominates the need to be different and competitiveness, while in the sports in which teammates for group competitions are rivals in individual competitions, and in which group scores are not determined adding individual score of teammates, both competitiveness and cohesion play a central role. The aims of the study are to investigate the levels of competitiveness, cohesion and conflict in seven teams of multiple equipment (n. 54), to identify differences in scores in reference to structural variables and to detect any correlations between the variables of interest. The instruments used are: Sport Orientation Questionnaire - S.O.Q. to investigate the competitiveness; Group Environment Questionnaire - G.E.Q. for investigating cohesion; Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory - R.O.C.I. I and II to investigate conflict; perceived performance was investigated using an ad hoc Likert scale, furthermore the scores obtained by teams in the competition following the administration were also detected. The results show that adult athletes, those who are part of the team for the longest time and the athletes who play both individual races and group races reported significantly different levels in some of the investigated variables compared to their teammates. In addition, a negative correlation was shown between perceived performance and conflict. Since multiple equipment sports have multiple special features, special attention should be given by those who follow it and those who train it, to the group dynamics that can affect not only team performance, but also the individual one.
