Abstract

Urban ecology is a relatively recent field of study, acting as a link between town planning and ecology. In fact, cities themselves present both the problems and solutions to sustainability challenges of an increasingly urbanized world. This article focuses firstly on the reasons why urban ecology has been carrying increasing in importance in the last few years; secondly, on the morphological analysis of a corpus of terms which have recently been introduced into the French Journal Officiel (official gazette) concerning both the fields of town planning and ecology.
