In Modern Arabic Versions (editions of Beyruth and Cambridge) of 1Chr 26:18 the word “parbār” is translated by “riwâqun/rawâqun,” “colonnade,” by a free interpretation similar to that one of the LXX and, first of all, of the Vulgate. So also “parbār,” as its variant “*parwār,” is specified in the course of the semantic evolution in Judaism: in fact in the Qumran Manuscripts and in the Talmud, “parbār” it is contextualized in the sense of “colonnade, portico,” as the Arabic terms used in Modern Versions attest, which have expressly such meaning.
