Among the elements that characterize the adult stage of the life of an individual, the work certainly plays a fundamental role, both when it is present as when it is absent, by choice or not. It is not only a source of income for the support of the individual but carries meaning and opportunities of aging and satisfaction important, as it can be a time of frustration and real trauma, both physical and psychological. The psychology of the work was done just in the last few years, an evolutionary approach to the experience of working people. Some authors, in fact, have proposed models based on the identification of phases of work, which lead the individual into a path that goes by its inclusion in the labor market upon its release. In this way, it is also possible to identify some issues that deserve to be studied, and when they refer to an experience "normal" (construction of professional identity, search for job satisfaction, the development of their professional skills, etc.. ) and when referring to situations "pathological" (stress, bullying, conflict between personal needs and those working, etc..). The task of this chapter, therefore, is to present the main evolutionary theories related to work and address a range of issues that are now increasingly essential in the experience of the people working.
