The so-called Cartabia reform of the civil process has made the recognition of family mediation more meaningful and has expanded its regulatory framework. The essay examines the most relevant innovations in terms of access to mediation, the effectiveness of any agreement resulting from it, the role of the mediator and his or her professional figure, and finally the cases of non mediability due to domestic violence.
