The Epirote princess Phthia was the granddaughter of Pyrrhos. She married Demetrios II of Macedon and became queen of Macedon. Around 238 BCE she gave birth to Philip V, Demetrios’ heir. At Demetrios’ death in 229 BCE she married Antigonos Doson, who had been appointed tutor of the young Philip V and governor of the kingdom. Doson later became king of Macedon, but Phthia’s fate is unknown.
