History and Art, 25 Years of Debates on the Middle Ages

As part of the celebrations relating to the 25th anniversary of the review "Hortus artium Medievalium", it is investigated the relationship between history and medieval art, highlighting points of contact, comparisons and distances in thematic research and among scholars. It also emphasizes the fertility of projects conducted in an interdisciplinary way, in compliance with the respective methods of investigation and the type of sources, which must be investigated not for functional reasons - as sometimes occurs - but for their intrinsic value.

Nell’ambito delle celebrazioni relative al 25° della rivista “Hortus artium medievalium”, si indagano i rapporti tra storia e arte medievale, evidenziando punti di contatto, confronti e distanze nelle ricerche tematiche e tra gli studiosi. Si sottolinea, altresì, la fecondità di progetti condotti in modo interdisciplinare, nel rispetto dei rispettivi metodi di indagine e della tipologia di fonti, che vanno indagate non per ragioni funzionali – come talvolta si verifica – ma per il loro valore intrinseco.
