Abstract
The organization and conception of the women's religious life between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries is an important point of reference for understanding the reasons for the new ecclesiology, which sought to combine the acquisitions of canon law with the theological elaborations of the Parisian masters. The Historia occidentalis of James of Vitry allows us to highlight the salient points of a sensitive shift of attention on the legal and formal aspects, considered increasingly indispensable for a "regular" life. In this panorama the apostolic See was the most active subject in taking on a vast reform that, through the founders of new Orders (particularly Dominic of Caleruega), led to the birth of peculiar forms of female monasticism.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
