Anatomia di un miracolo. I santi Faustino e Giovita all'assedio di Brescia (13 dicembre 1438)

The volume analyzes the ways in which the memory of the appearance of the SS Faustino and Giovita was built on the walls of Brescia during the city's war against the Milanese (1438). The miraculous event represents the sanction of the new political balance that sees Brescia in the orbit of Venice and no more in that of of Milan. In addition to the sources relating to the apparition, his representations are taken into consideration, which over the centuries have involved art, hagiography, historical scholarship and, last but not least, liturgical worship and related music.

Il volume analizza le modalità con cui si è costruita la memoria dell'apparizione dei SS Faustino e Giovita sulle mura di Brescia durante la guerra della città contro i Milanese (1438). L'evento miracoloso rappresenta la sanzione del nuovo equilibrio politico che vede Brescia nell'orbita di Venezia e non più di Milano. Oltre alle fonti relative all'apparizione si prendono in considerazione le sue rappresentazioni che nel corso dei secoli hanno riguardato l'arte, l'agiografia, l'erudizione storica e, non ultimi per importanza, il culto liturgico e la musica ad esso correlata.
