The article proposes a discussion of the category of "Central America". It starts from the fact that what characterizes the region is not the territorial, political, linguistic and cultural unity and arrives at the realization that the region's distinctive feature is diversity. In the second part, the article describes the existence of a “Central American writer”, beginning from two recent historical events that have created this figure: the wars of the ‘70s and ‘80s, and the emigration to the United States. Heterogeneity and literature justify the existence of Central America.

Abstract
The article proposes a discussion of the category of "Central America". It starts from the fact that what characterizes the region is not the territorial, political, linguistic and cultural unity and arrives at the realization that the region's distinctive feature is diversity. In the second part, the article describes the existence of a “Central American writer”, beginning from two recent historical events that have created this figure: the wars of the ‘70s and ‘80s, and the emigration to the United States. Heterogeneity and literature justify the existence of Central America.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
