Recent researches and studies, together with new critical editions of texts and documents relating to Pier Damiani and the monastery of Fonte Avellana allow us to update our current interpretation of the XXIst canto of the Paradiso, with special regard to some specific but relevant issues such as Dante’s sources, his supposed journey at Fonte Avellana and Pier Damiani’s biography.
